The Mechanical Engineering Department is one of the departments in Masai Technical Training institute. Over the years, there has been tremendous growth in the department in student numbers, staff and facilities. The department has two sections; automotive engineering section and Mechanical production section.

The aim of our programs is to develop student’s capacity to face challenges head on and provide solutions in a confident and logical manner. This is done through adoption of best academic and engineering practice to ensure students gain the right skills. Our programs highly emphasizes on imparting skills through practical sessions that take place in laboratories and various workshops. These are backed up by state of art computers, machines and equipment.

Our program consists of core engineering disciplines that expose students to design, materials, thermo-fluids and power engineering. Besides the core engineering subjects our students also undertake interdisciplinary programs such as ICT, communication skills, marketing and research methodology to enable them communicate with engineers and managers in the field. Moreover their exposure is complemented by at least 90 days of industrial field attachment whenever they complete each stage of the course of study. This makes them the best and highly sought after by employers.

Admission

We admit new students in January and September each year. To be admitted for a diploma course, you should have attained a minimum of C-(minus) in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or any other grade recognized by Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC). To qualify for a certificate course you should have attained a minimum of D (plain) in KCSE.

Upon completion of our Diploma courses one is able to join the world of work or advance his/her career by joining Government and Private Universities. Such a student joins at year two or three of study.

Departmental Staff
